Current Road Works and Notices

Current Road Works for the Coomalie Region

Council will carry out the following road works utilising funding from the Federal Government Roads to Recovery funding program:

Chinner Road Lake Bennett - Sealing of remainder of the road using Roads to Recovery funding, funds contributed by the residents of Lake Bennett and funds contributed from Council's Federal Government Assistance Grant roads allocation.

Crater Lake Road will be sealed utilising funding from the Federal Government's AusLink Strategic Regional Programnme program.

Notice of Load Restrictions on Rural Roads

Coomalie Council, pursuant to R.24 of the Local Government ( Road Opening & Closing ) Regulations hereby gives notice of its decision to restrict the use of the following roads:

Load Restrictions of 8 Tonnes Gross Vehicle Mass
Owen Lagoon Road, Cadogan Road, Echidna Road,
Heathers Lagoon Road, Otto Creek Road, Unsealed Section of Chinner Road, Munz Road, Strickland Road, Haynes Road, Coach Roads, Milton Road, Fernee Road, Carr Road, Miles Road, Perreau Road, Fowler Road, Bevan Road, Lithgow Road, Poett Road, White Road, Scott Road, Solomon Road, Crater Lake Road, Cheeney Road, Mt.Burton Road.

Special Load Restriction
Chinner Road – Sealed Section
Access available only to Single Rigid Vehicles having axle loads conforming to NT Regulations and less than 25 Tonnes Gross Vehicle Mass. All other vehicles, including semi-trailers and multiple part vehicles must apply for permission to use the road from Coomalie Council during office hours.

These restrictions apply from January until 01 May each year, or the dates advised by any further notice which may be issued. Permission to carry heavier loads than specified on the above roads may be obtained by contacting Coomalie Council during office hours on 89760058.

The Regulations provide for financial penalties or imprisonment for 6 months for a person who fails to comply with this order.
