Bats (Flying Foxes) in Batchelor

Batchelor has been the roosting spot for flying foxes for many years. They cause a great deal of noise and smell. A small group of volunteers have been out and about very early in the mornings making lots of noise and creating lots of smoke to try to discourage the bats roosting in the trees within the township. This project has been ongoing for several years and the number of bats roosting within the township has declined. However, they still have a go at settling in the township every year during breeding season. This dedicated group of people do their best to discourage the bats from settling in the township.
