Annual Community Grants Program

Community Grant Program Closed! 


Our Community Grants Program is designed to support community organisations carrying out one off, capacity building projects, activities, or events in the Coomalie Shire.


The grants are available annually, with a total pool of $8,000 available. The maximum grant available is $1,500, this is to ensure the greatest number of projects and activities can be supported.

Who Can Apply

  • Funding is available for new projects and initiatives, not existing programs or operational costs.
  • Community Groups and Individuals can apply for funding, however the application must show a benefit to the Coomalie Shire.
  • Activities must occur within the Coomalie Shire region.


Frequently Asked Questions

  • Open & Closing Dates

    The Community Grants Program opens on the 1st October and closes on the 30th November.

    To be considered applications must be received on the Application Form and be submitted before the close date.

    Council will make a decision on applications at its Ordinary General Meeting in the following January.

  • How much money is available?

    The total grant pool is $8,000 per annum

  • What is the maximum I can apply for?

    The maximum for the current round of grants is $1,500

  • Can I apply for a project that has previously received funding?

    No, Community Grants are available once only for events. Should there be an ongoing benefit to the community an application can be made to Council and assessed on the benefit to the community.

  • Can I get funding for general, or operational expenses for my organisation?

    No, the Community Grants Program is designed to provide benefit for the community in supporting activities and events within the Coomalie Shire.

  • Do you accept hand written applications?

    Yes hand written applications are accepted, however the application must be legible!

  • What if I am late with my application?

    Applications have a strict closing date, any application received after the date will not be assessed.

  • Can I get advice about what to apply for and what to write?

    Yes, Council Officers are more than happy to provide assistance with any application.
